After some investigation, it appears Vista and vsync aren't happy together. It's enabled as Always On in CCC but that doesn't make a difference. It'll probably work better on my XP machine, I'll check later.

hi, so ive finally had a chance to play and i must say i really like the changes.
So now to report the bugs/problems/crashes ive had.
What i have found is that whenever a area gets too busy the game crashes. this basically mean taverns = crash as so many players go there.
furthermore i have found if a queue of buildings is too long sometimes some dont get made. othertimes i have run out of money whilst building then increased my loan so as to still be able to pay the devs but still the queue remains broken and the devs dont finsih the jobs. however if i order new buildings they happen. but old orderswill not. so i end up deleting old and satrting again.also whilst ive been following the games dev im not very familiar with what taverns do or the castle looking thingy, so would it be possible to hve a thread that explains them. also would a hint thread be possible so as to give a couple clues as how to use dungeons effectively since ive found no-one ever goes to the ones i make.
again... grt game

Interesting. It sounds like there may be some sort of bug to do with overloaded regions, then; I haven't ever seen a crash there, but I'll have a bit of a search through the relevant code. If you can send me a save game where you can get it to happen relatively easily, I'd be very grateful! :)
Theoretically, the job queue could possibly overflow and show the symptoms you talk about, but only if there were 1000 jobs queued up at once. I guess that could happen if you did a whole, whole lot of building with the game paused. More likely that what you're seeing is caused by some other bug. If you can find a way to reproduce the problem reliably and/or have a saved game that shows the problem, that'd be awesome. :)
And the castles and dungeons aren't implemented yet; they can be placed, but can't yet be used. They'll be much more obvious, once they're ready to go.

wow, ive been following the progress on this for a while now, and im loving it.
quite a few bugs for unkown reasons, but one main one i have found is if i have the game on pause when im building the zones etc. and it is before anyone has started playing the game, if MMORPG tycoon crashes and then you load it up again, even on ultra fast speed i cannot seem to get any poeple playing for a good 5/10 minutes. compared to the 10-20 seconds that it normally takes. this also happened to a friend of mine.
and the skill tree makes no sense to me, i love MMOs but i havent played that many, so im not sure what im looking at when i see the skill tree.
but still, im finding the game very fun :)

also, it seems that if you change the names of 'classes'
the names dont change when you look at the Census, the names keep the default ones.Posted 1 year ago # -
I'll see if I can reproduce the crash/load delayed subscribers bug; could easily be something that's not saving/loading correctly.
The non-update of class names on the census report was just an oversight; that report's fields aren't being adjusted after the classes are created. I suspect that if you saved and reloaded your game, the census report would have the correct fields present. I'll get this fixed for the next testing version.

sure thing trevor i have a save game where it will crash after about 1-2mins, due to the the tavern issue. Should i email you the save game file? or would you like me to send it to you some other way

E-mail'd be perfect, thanks!

No problem. I would have even done it by now had i been able to find an email address. i can understand if you dont want to show ur email on the forum but if you could let me know where to find it that would be great.
or alternatively email me at token88*at*gmail.com and ill reply back with the necessary file attached.

Whoops, sorry! I suspect that if you had made a wild guess at my address, you would have been right, though. ;)

I can get the tavern error as well. I also found an error with roads and their placement. The tavern error appears to involve a buffer overflow. Getting the proper scenario is quick and easy. Lay out a reasonable amount of zoning, drop your sub price to 14, do standard buildup, place tavern. If needed, I have the saves for both roads and tavern.

Hm.. I've just played up to about 1000 subscribers in the current build, and haven't run into that problem yet, Devath.. can you give more information?
How many zones, and what levels are there? Anything special you're doing with the buildup? (For example, one thing I often do is to zone three regions the same level-range, and then place the starting point and home in one of the regions, and the quest-giver in the second, and the tavern in the third; that spreads your users out a lot more than putting them all into just one region!)
Also, can you tell me more about the road placement trouble you found?

I think i know why it is crashing...
The mouse... When i is spin it really fast around the map it crashes...
Try it...Posted 1 year ago # -
Wait a sec... It crashes anyways... sorry then... BTW love your game :)

Hm.. I'm going to need to get a new build out soon. The current development build has drifted so far away from the last build I uploaded that I can't open the old saved games any longer!

Aye. Sorry I lost interest so fast. I'm not sure about the road error at this moment, since none of my saves worked, and I'm trying to figure out how I broke the game. I have managed to break it again... Reading your description, I understand part of the problem. Usually I place between 6 and 8 zones the same level, add 2 towns, a tavern, and quests in every other zone that doesn't contain any of the other ones. From what I can remember, the taverns broke everything when I was placing them in 6-10 zones, and seemed to be hyperfocusing the attention of people from 2 different towns. This is all from memory, but I'll attempt to find the other errors soon. I tend to use the super fast forward a lot, so pinpointing the exact error is beyond me, but I'll see how slight modifications on your model work.
EDIT: The problem seems to stem from population density on certain points. For instance, say you fiddle with design variables so that EXP/LVL is 12. Balance all the classes, making each unique. Possible if each is given 6 points to distribute. I didn't bother with the monsters. Lower subscription to 14. Monster aggression at 40%, density at 85%. Employees at 20 or so. Speeds up placement of things. Combat Level range: 3. Users 1029. Average User LVL: 2.
Other Layout: http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m115/Devath/MMORPGTycoon2009-01-3000-39-57-31.jpgIt crashes almost immediately when the tavern completes. At max speed, of course. But the cause is obviously the tavern. Which is a high value target for users...

I had 3 roads connected to a town. When I tried to connect the fourth, it ended up closing with that message.

I don't believe bugs are relevant for this anymore as Trevor has moved onto 2.0 which is a completely new codebase. Let him confirm that he doesn't want to know about them anymore though because I might be wrong.
Posted 1 year ago # -
It's true that I'm unlikely to fix bugs in the 1.1 codebase any more..
..but it's a huge confidence boost to hear that people are still playing with it! Makes me even more eager to start getting some 2.0 materials out there, because they're so much more exciting (in my own opinion)

This is amazingly fun, though mine always crashes when I add a tavern! I'm using Vista too, so that is probably another reason!
